A Bronx-area senior judge cut a violent criminal a break following his involvement in a deadly attack, only for him to re-offend with similar outcomes.
Supreme Court Justice Denis Boyle freed Jordon Benjamin without bail in relation to a December 2019 attack due to Coronavirus concerns, allowing the young murder suspect to roam the streets with impunity.
The initial attack involved Sixty-year-old Juan Fresnada, who later died of his injuries. The incident was recorded by security cameras.
In March of 2020, Boyle released Benjamin from a Brooklyn juvenile detention facility, citing Coronavirus concerns.
Now, just shy of one year after his first alleged offense, Benjamin has been arrested for slashing victim Amya Hicks with a knife.
Surprisingly, Boyle bailed Benjamin out for a second time.
“This is crazy,” Tynisha Smith, Hicks’ mother.
Smith reported that Benjamin is able to roam around freely, despite being a violent individual.
To make matters worse, the victim was never informed.
“We thought he was still in jail,” said Smith. “She doesn’t have an order of protection or nothing. He’s local. He hangs out two blocks away.”
“Nobody called us,” she added. “I’m going to ring her now and tell her to get home. They didn’t give us a heads up or nothing. This is ridiculous. He can hurt another person.”
According to the New York Post, Hicks spent two days in the hospital and had to undergo surgery.
