A Terrebonne Parish middle school employee was arrested over the weekend after police said she behaved inappropriately around a group of teenage boys.
Dawn Marie Baye, 38, of Chauvin, is charged with eight counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile and 10 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
Baye worked in the cafeteria at Lacache Middle School in Chauvin, school officials confirmed.
“She was a cafeteria worker and ‘was’ is the appropriate term because she’s no longer employed,” Terrebonne schools Superintendent Philip Martin said. “When people make bad decisions there are usually bad consequences that go along with them.”
Baye’s arrest resulted from an investigation that took several weeks, authorities said.

Detectives received a complaint April 21 from a concerned parent of one of the alleged victims that multiple boys had gone to Baye’s house on several occasions, where they drank alcohol, watched pornography and engaged in unspecified sexual encounters, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The boys, who were between 13 and 16 years old, met Baye at the school and went to her house for sleepovers, authorities said. Investigators conducted several interviews and determined the facts of the investigation were consistent with information found on social media.
Baye was interviewed Friday at the Sheriff’s Office and was taken into custody. She was booked into the Terrebonne Parish jail, where her bail was set at $50,000.
Sheriff Tim Soignet is asking parents to monitor where their children are and whose homes they go to during sleepovers. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 876-2500.
