Police in Parker have launched a criminal investigation of Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller.

“The case is currently under investigation, and no information can be released at this time,” said Josh Hans, a Parker police spokesman, in an email.

If investigators determine that a crime has been committed, a case will be presented to the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office for review, Hans said.

“We have no case,” said Vikki Migoya, a district attorney’s spokeswoman.

Hans gave no further detail of the investigation.

In a statement, the Broncos said: “We are aware of an investigation involving Von Miller and are in the process of gathering more information.”

Miller, 31, missed the entirety of the Broncos’ 2020 season after sustaining an ankle injury in practice a week before the season opener against Tennessee.

The Broncos’ all-time leader in sacks (106), Miller is due to count a team-high $22.125 million on the 2021 salary cap, including a base salary of $17.5 million.

If the Broncos cut Miller, they can create $13.875 million in cap space.

Since joining the Broncos in 2011, Miller’s only documented legal issue was an August 2011 arrest after failing to appear on misdemeanor traffic chargers. A month later, he was cited for driving with a suspended license, and he also pleaded guilty to three traffic offenses from 2012-13. He was ordered to complete 24 hours of community service and take a driving class.

In August 2013, he was suspended six games by the NFL for violating the league’s policy on performance enhancing drugs.
