An oversight board in the city of Atlanta has ordered the reinstatement of Garrett Rolfe, the police officer charged with murder and fired in the death of Rayshard Brooks.
The decision was based in part on technicalities about dismissal procedures under the Atlanta city code.

Rolfe will remain on administrative leave until his criminal charges stemming from the 2020 use of force incident are resolved.
The Brooks shooting occurred after Brooks -who was apparently under the influence and fell asleep in a drive-thru lane- began to viciously fight officers attempting to handcuff him.
During the struggle, Brooks stole a Taser from one of the officers.
According to WJCT, Brooks was attempting to fire the Taser at officers at the time he was shot.
