A Coppell ISD educator was arrested after accusations she had an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Mercedes Genevieve Coloso, 32, was taken into custody Monday morning on charges of sexual assault of a child, indecency with a child and improper relationship between an educator and student. It was unclear whether she had an attorney.

Coppell police said they became aware of the allegations Saturday.

Coloso worked at Coppell Middle School North, according to the school district. State records show that she is certified as an educational aide.

Coppell ISD said that Coloso was fired and no longer allowed at any facility in the district. The district did not say how long she had been employed there or whether she had any disciplinary history.

“Coppell ISD holds its employees to the highest standards and is deeply saddened and outraged about this situation,” the district said in a written statement.
